When the Rolex Caliber 3035 ended the 12-year run of the 1570, it became the first men’s high-beat caliber Rolex had ever made. By increasing the balance speed from 19,800bph to 28,800bph, the new movement was able to offer an even greater level of accuracy and robustness than the already formidable abilities of its predecessor.
Cal. 3035 was an automatic movement with date produced by Rolex from 1977 through 1988. Developed alongside the Oysterquartz 5035, Cal. 3035 represented a new standard for movement design and production in the 1970s. Cal. 3035 was phased out in 1988, replaced by the updated Cal. 3135.Rolex 3035 Movement. The first men’s high-beat caliber Rolex had ever made. It increased the balance speed from 19,800bph to 28,800bph. It was this new speed on the 3035, causing the seconds hand to ‘tick’ eight times per second. It was the first automatic caliber to feature a quickset function.The Rolex 3035 watch movement, used from 1977-1988, features a free Breguet hairspring and a balance with regulating screws. It is equipped with Kif shock protections for the balance and escapement wheel.
This Rolex 3035 is an easy one to work on compared to other automatic, quick-set date watch movements, such as an ETA 2824-2.
